Mon 1st 7 Swifts were present.
Tues 2nd Two Spotted Flycatchers were near Fly Pool (PW).
On Cuckoo Bank there was a Hobby and a juvenile Marsh Harrier flew to the south (PW).
Wed 3rd Four Hobbies were over Cuckoo Bank (PW).
Thurs 4th A Wheatear was present (PW).
Fri 5th On Cuckoo Bank there were 2 Hobbies, 2 Ravens, 3 Redstarts and a Whinchat (PW).
Sat 6th A juv Whinchat, a Wheatear, a Stonechat and a Grasshopper Warbler were present (PW).
The monthly Wetland Bird Survey (WeBS) produced the following totals: 42 Mute Swans, 211 Canada Geese, 146 Mallard, 111 Tufted Ducks, 3 Grey Herons, 5 Little Grebes, 39 Great Crested Grebes, 24 Moorhens, 720 Coot, 69 Lapwings and 3 Snipe (GE).
Mon 8th On Cuckoo Bank a juvenile Marsh Harrier hunted for about an hour before appearing to fly south. Three Hobbies, 5 Buzzards and 2 Kestrels were also present (PW).
Tues 9th 3 juvenile Ruff were present (JT, VT).
On Cuckoo Bank there were 2 Hobbies and a Wheatear (PW).
Fri 12th At Cuckoo Bank a Little Egret flew west and a Wigeon and 2 Hobbies were noted (PW).
Sat 13th On Cuckoo Bank there were 12 Teal along with the regular Raven, Sparrowhawk, Kestrel and Buzzard (PW).
Tues 16th A Hobby was seen over the Slurry Pool (DL)


Wed 17th
A Black Swan was amongst the regulars on the South Shore (Swan Lady).
Sat 20th A Hobby, 59 Wigeon, 2 Gadwall, 5 Little Grebes, 4 Grey Wagtails, 9 Mistle Thrushes and a Willow Tit were present (GE).
Sun 21st At 13:10 a Great White Egret briefly paused at a pool on Cuckoo Bank before flying south towards Chasewater (PW). Presumably the same bird had passed over Blithfield at 12:45. This is the first site record of this formerly very rare vagrant to Britain that has now become a regular visitor and has started to breed. A Hobby was also noted (PW).
Tues 23rd 5 Stonechats were on Cuckoo Bank (PW).
Thurs 25th Male and female Stonechats were by Chasewater Heaths station (PW).
A stag with a safety life ring stuck on it's antlers has been seen in the Kingswood area over the last few days; To report injured or distressed wildlife click here (external link)
Sun 28th More Stonechats were seen on the North Heath and a group of over 50 Meadow Pipits roosted. 6 Snipe flew in a circuit over the heath. Lots of Chiffchaffs and Goldcrests were in the bushes above Fly Bay and 4 Migrant Hawkers were on the wing along with several Common Darters.
Tues 30th 2 Stonechats and 3 Tawny Owls were on Cuckoo Bank (PW).
The ascomycete data has been updated to now include 185 species.
